Family, Tradition, and a Whole Lot of Beef

At Stack Rock Ranch, we believe strong families are rooted in service—to each other and to the communities around them. Our founder, Darol, lived by this principle, and we carry it on in everything we do.
We build our herd around exceptional cows chosen for their instincts, strength, and ability to raise calves that thrive on our rugged hillside pastures. These matriarchs guide the next generation and shape the quality of our beef from the ground up.
Our genetics combined with regenerative agriculture practices and vaccine free, including mRNA technology, antibiotic-free beef, results in the healthiest, best-tasting beef available! From our family to yours, we’re proud to share the joy of food raised with purpose.

1862

Gold Rush

Gold is discovered in the Boise Basin and Cartwright Road becomes the main north-south road between the mines and the city

1890

Idaho becomes the 43rd state

1900's

The Englishman

An Englishman named Mason purchases the land, builds a beautiful house, and ranches the land until around 1942

1913

STACK Rock School

Stack Rock School is built on the north west end of the current ranch. In 1925 it is moved to the southeast end to be closer to students

1983

A New Chapter

Darol Forsythe buys approximately 1,800 acres of land and names it Stack Rock Ranch

1984

The Main House

Darol builds his house and begins breeding mules for riding and working

1986-Ongoing

Improvements

Darol starts developing the land by improving springs, creating water reservoirs, planting trees and pasture grass, and adding buildings. We continue rehabilitating the land with natural soil enhancers and irrigation.

2013

The Herd

Darol starts running a small herd of cows to provide meat for family and friends

2017

In Loving Memory

Darol passes away peacefully in his beloved home. His son-John-and grandson-Mike- take over and work toward raising premium beef
